Happy Halloween!
It's crazy to think we've reached the October Bank Holiday and the kids are gearing up for the midterm break... it feels like they just went back after Summer?! As the evenings get darker and the leaves begin to slowly fall from the trees (or rapidly after Hurricane Ophelia!), we have to admit we're quite looking forward to the cosy months ahead!
Speaking of darker evenings, and with Halloween coming up this Tuesday, now might be the perfect time to remind the kiddos about staying safe whilst out and about. For tips on ensuring your children stay safe not only this Halloween but all year, click here.
This month there has been a number of developments in relation to the Clontarf to City Centre Cycle Route, particularly in regarding the stretch in Fairview (click here to read about it). The CRA invited our local councillors to weigh in on the matter, you can find these statements linked at the bottom of this newsletter. Be sure to also keep an eye on our Facebook page and the comments section on our website posts to view opinions on the above matter.
We would also like to point out that Clontarf.ie is not in favour of one solution over another and is not 'anti-cyclist' which has been suggested on Facebook. In fact, one of the editors here uses this stretch of cycle lane every day to commute. We are happy to provide a platform where people can comment and share their opinions, however, please note that comments containing profanity will be removed.
In other news, the bi-annual Clontarf Players production will take place from November 22nd - 25th at the Sean O' Casey Theatre. Be sure to support this fantastic local troupe and check out 'All in Favour Said No!' More on this below.
Finally, one of our favourite stories of 2017 came to us at the end of September from the daughter of Kathleen McKenna. Kathleen, a former resident of Clontarf, hosted her first ever solo art exhibition this past month at the age of 93. If that's isn't inspiration on not giving up on your goals then we don't know what is?!
We love hearing stories about local news and events, so if you have something you'd like to share, please email us at info@clontarf.ie!
That's all from us for now,
The Clontarf.ie Team
